Future Plans for Auburn Boulevard

A special planning & design initiative is under way to shape development along Auburn Boulevard between Howe & Watt Avenues & the public is invited to attend two community meetings or "charettes" to learn more about what is envisioned for this commercial corridor. The effort is being led by the Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency & the County Economic Development Department. The initial gathering of property & pusiness owners launched the planning initiative last Oct. Our goal is to develop a master plan that will allow the County to more readily adapt to the increased interest by property owners to enhance their holdings along Auburn Blvd. We want to be able to enhance business retention, expansion & attraction of more investment in the area. Planners are working to create a special planning area for the two-mile stretch of the boulevard that will address landscaping, commercial design guidelines, signage standards, aesthetic enhancements & freeway interface & frontage. The public is encouraged to attend & offer suggestions & ideas to shape the future of Auburn Blvd. The working session will be interactive to maximize participant input. The 2nd meeting is scheduled for March 23rd.
